UK Athletics - Age-Group Rules for Competition


UK:Athletics Rules for Competition, Rule 107 (Track & Field), Rule 207 (Cross Country & Road) 
and Rule 507 (Cross Country).  
Under 13  
Track and field events for Under 13's shall be confined to competitors who are aged 11 or 12 on the 31st August within the Competition Year.  
Cross Country & Road competition for Under 13's (school years 7 & 8 and some year 6) shall be confined to competitors who are aged 11 on the day of competition, or 12 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  
Cross Country competition for Under 13's (school years 7 & 8 and some year 6) shall be confined to competitors who are aged 11 on the day of competition, or 12 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  
Under 15
Track and field events for Under 15's shall be confined to competitors who are aged 13 or 14 on the 31st August within the Competition Year.  
Cross Country & Road competition for Under 15's (school years 9 & 10) shall be confined to 
competitors who are aged 13 or 14 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  
Cross Country competition for Under 15's (school years 9 & 10) shall be confined to competitors 
who are aged 13 or 14 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  
Under 17  
Track and field events for Under 17's (school years 11 & 12) shall be confined to competitors who are aged 15 or 16 on the 31st August within the Competition Year.  
Cross Country & Road competition for Under 17's (school years 11 & 12) shall be confined to 
competitors who are aged 15 or 16 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  Cross Country competition for Under 17's shall be confined to competitors who are aged 15 or 16 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  
Junior Men and Women  
Track and field events for Junior Men and Women shall be confined to competitors who are 17 or over on 31 August within the Competition Year, but under 20 on 31 December in the calendar year of competition.  Cross Country & Road competition for Junior Men and Women shall be confined to competitors who are aged 17, 18 or 19 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year. 
Cross Country competition for Junior Men and Women shall be confined to competitors who are 
aged 17, 18 or 19 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year.  
Senior Men & Women  
For Cross Country & Road competitions a Senior is a competitor who is aged at least 20 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year. In road relay competitions Junior Men and Women may compete in Seniors events.  
For Cross Country competitions a Senior is a competitor who is aged at least 20 on 31st August prior to the commencement of the Competition Year. In road relay competitions Junior Men and Women may compete in Seniors events. junior Men and Women may compete in Senior events as appropriate and subject to the maximum distances for their age group not being exceeded (Junior Men 10000m, Junior Women 6000m)  
Veteran Men & Women  
Cross Country & Road events shall be confined to competitors who in the case of men are at least 40 years of age and women who are at least 35 years of age on the date of competition.  
Cross Country events shall be confined to competitors who in the case of men are at least 40 years of age and women who are at least 35 years of age on the date of competition.  
Age Groups for Schools Competitions  
The age limits for all English Schools AA Championships and Competitions are:  
Junior Thirteen years and under fifteen years of age on 31st August at the end of the current school year  
Intermediate Fifteen years and under seventeen years of age on 31st August at the end of the current school year  
Senior Seventeen years and under nineteen years of age on 31st August at the end of the current school year.
